◎ナガイレーベン株を大量取得  米タイヨウ・ファンド、

 【東京21日PRN=共同JBN】米タイヨウ・パシフィック・パートナーズLPと米WLロス&カンパニーLLCにより共同で運営される米タイヨウ・ファンドは21日、ナガイレーベン(東証:7447)株式の5%超を取得したと発表した。タイヨウ・ファンドは、経営陣と協働し、企業価値の向上を目指す協力的な投資スタイルを持つことで知られる。
 タイヨウ・ファンドの投資委員会会長を務めるウィルバー・L・ロス・ジュニア.氏は「ファンドが拡大し、経営陣との接触頻度が増すにつれ、われわれは日本企業の非伝統的な株主と密接に協働することに対する受容度が高いことが確認できた」と述べた。
 タイヨウの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるブライアン・K・ヘイウッド氏は「ナガイレーベンは、われわれの投資実行の条件である、高いファンダメンタル価値、知的好奇心および経営陣のリーダーシップを兼ね備えた絶好の例である」と補足した。
 コメントを求められたナガイレーベンの澤登一郎社長は「当社を取り巻く株式市場の環境が激変する中において、資本政策は大切な問題と認識している。タイヨウ・ファンドは、株主の立場として、バランスの取れた資金再投資、還元について投げかけてくれた。それを当社なりに理解・消化し企業価値の向上を目指していきたい」と述べた。
 米タイヨウ・ファンドは2003年7月に、米国最大の公的年金基金であるカリフォルニア州職員退職年金基金(カルパース)による2億ドルの出資とともに設立された。WLロス&カンパニーLLCは2000年より45億ドル以上のオルタナティブ投資をスポンサーしている。タイヨウ・パシフィック・パートナーズLPは、カリフォルニア州モントレーに拠点を置き、友好的かつ提案型株主を目指し、国際的かつバイリンガルのプロフェッショナルにより2003年に設立された。

Taiyo Fund Takes Significant Stake in Nagaileben

TOKYO, July 21 /PRN=KYODO JBN/ --

    Taiyo Fund, which is jointly managed by Taiyo Pacific Partners, LP and WL
Ross & Co. LLC, announced today that it has accumulated a position in excess of
5% in Nagaileben Co. Ltd. (7447).  The Taiyo Fund is known for its cooperative
investment style of working with senior management to enhance shareholder
value.   

    Wilbur L. Ross Jr., Chairman of the Taiyo Fund Investment Committee said,
"As the Fund has grown and our interaction with management has increased, we
have found that there is a great receptivity among Japanese companies to work
more closely with non-traditional shareholders."

    Brian K. Heywood, Chief Executive Officer of Taiyo, added, "Nagaileben is
an excellent example of the strong fundamental value, intellectual curiosity,
and senior management leadership that we look for in a portfolio company."  

    When asked for comment, Mr. Ichiro Sawanobori, president of Nagaileben
said, "In the midst of a rapidly changing public equity environment, we
recognize the importance of an effective capital management strategy.  The
Taiyo Fund has helped us understand the importance investors place on a
balanced capital management plan that can properly enhance shareholders'
returns.  We are open to their input and will continue our internal efforts to
enhance our corporate value."

    The Taiyo Fund was organized in July 2003 with an initial equity investment
of $200 million by CalPERS, the State of California Public Employees Retirement
System.  WL Ross and Co. has sponsored $4.5 billion of alternative investments
since its founding in 2000.  Taiyo Pacific Partners, located in Monterey,
California, was founded in 2003 by bilingual professionals dedicated to
friendly shareholder activism in Japan.
