CenturyLinkに入社する前、グティエレス氏はLevel 3 Communicationsで17年間以上勤務し、EMEA（欧州、中東、アフリカ）の暫定地域社長を務めると共にEMEAのシニア・バイスプレジデントとファイナンスディレクターの任にあった。それ以前はファイナンスとオペレーションで他の3つのシニア・バイスプレジデントを務めた。

the appointment of Matt Gutierrez as its senior managing director for Asia

Prior to joining CenturyLink, Gutierrez spent more than 17 years at Level 3

Communications, serving as interim regional president of Europe, Middle East

and Africa (EMEA), as well as senior vice president and finance director of

EMEA. Before that, he served in three other senior vice president positions in

finance and operations.
