Sunshine Coast Solar Farmの稼働によって、地元サンシャインコースト市は電力消費の100%を再生可能エネルギーの施設と稼働で埋め合わせできるオーストラリア初の地方自治体となる。サンシャインコースト市が単独で所有するこの発電所は、現在の発電原価を基礎にすると、市はコストを引いた後、30年間で最大2200万ドルを節約できることが期待される。

DownerがSunshine Coast Solar Farmの設計、建設、操業、メンテナンス（DCOM）を請け負い、5万7000枚のDuomax PEG14 315 W photovoltaic（PV）ソーラーパネル・モジュールの供給業者としてトリナ・ソーラーを選任した。

発電所はオーストラリアで設置された5番目に大きな太陽光発電所で、サイクロンのような強風と異常気象条件に見舞われるボルドラの24ヘクタールの土地に設置された。悪条件緩和しようと、異常気象条件に耐えられる強固な機械的性質を持つDuomaxモジュールが選ばれた。Duomaxモジュールは一貫して工業性能でトップにあり、その品質保証は太陽光発電所に計画される30年の設計寿命を満たしている。Duomaxはペアガラスとフレームのないデザインを利用したユニークな設計で、製品の信頼性と性能を向上させる。この製品は、その低い劣化率に左右される均等化発電原価プロジェクトを向上させ、システムレベルでBalance of Systems (BoS)の費用節減を可能にするように特別設計されている。それはデベロッパーにとって好ましい選択になる。

Trina Solar panels powers Sunshine Coast Solar Farm

The 15 megawatt (MW) Sunshine Coast Solar Farm in Valdora powered by Trina

Solar panels is on track to be fully operational by mid-2017.

The Sunshine Coast Solar Farm enables the local Sunshine Coast Council to

become Australia's first local government to offset 100 percent of its

electricity consumption across all its facilities and operations from renewable

energy. The farm, which is solely owned by the Council, is expected to save the

organisation up to $22 million, after costs, over a 30-year period based on

today's cost of electricity.

Downer was awarded the contract to Design, Construct, Operate and Maintain

(DCOM) the Sunshine Coast Solar Farm and appointed Trina Solar to supply 57,000

pieces of Duomax PEG14 315 W photovoltaic (PV) solar panel modules.

The farm is the country's fifth largest installed solar plant and is built on

24 hectares in Valdora which is exposed to high winds and extreme weather

conditions such as cyclones. To mitigate this, the Duomax module was selected

due to its robust mechanical properties that can withstand extreme weather

conditions. It has consistently topped industry performances and its warranty

fulfils the 30-year design life planned for the solar farm. Duomax has unique

module architecture utilizing double glass and a frameless design that enables

improved product reliability and performance. The product is specifically

designed to improve project Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) driven by its

lower degradation rate and enables Balance of Systems (BoS) savings at system

level, making it a preferred choice for developers.

At its peak, the Sunshine Coast Solar Farm will generate 15,000 kilowatts of

electricity from the sun. This will supply power to the local Council's

administration buildings, aquatic centres, community and performance venues, as

well as holiday parks, libraries, art galleries and sporting facilities. The

electricity generated over one year is enough to power about 5000 homes.
