ベトナムの電子取引市場ChoDienTu.vnがアリババ所有の地域大企業Lazadaに挑戦

Vietnam e-Commerce and Information Technology Agency（ベトナム電子取引・IT庁）（www.vecita.gov.vn ）がこのほど発表した2015年eコマース・リポートによると、ベトナム初の電子商取引市場であるChoDienTu.vnは、eコマース初の市場参入企業より50倍も少額の総資金支出でも売り上げ収益で2位にランクされた。このことは、独自の戦略を持つ国内eコマース企業であり、国内事情を深く理解していれば、比較的少ない資金でもなお資金力のある外国の大企業と対抗できることの証しである。

ChoDienTu.vnを保有するPeacesoft Groupのグエン・ホア・ビン会長は、この成果を記念するスピーチの中で、「この数年のeコマース・フィーバーに直面して、資金力のある多くのプレーヤーが成長を買い取るために大きなディスカウントや販売促進を実施してきたが、資金回転率が悪くなって数百万ドルを失って事業を閉鎖した。ChoDienTu.vnは長期的価値を生み出し、バイヤー、セラー双方へのサービスの質を高めるため、インフラストラクチャー・サービスに黙々と投資するという深慮ある戦略を選択した」と語った。

ドイツのロケットインターネット（Rocket Internet）から支援を受けた東南アジアのオンラインショッピング大企業Lazada（ラザダ）が最近、アリババ（Alibaba）に買収される潜在的な脅威にさらされていることについて、インタビューの質問に答えたビン会長は「われわれのいわゆる『人民の戦い』戦略によって、アリババが長江に住むワニであっても、彼らがもしベトナムにやってきても、われわれは正々堂々と戦うピラニアの群れになる」と語った。

ChoDienTu.vnはPeaceSoftグループの子会社であるPeaceTechが全額出資しており、それ自体はeBayとの合弁企業でベトナム人のベテラン技術起業家が過半数利権を所有している。ビン会長は「過去11年にわたり、ChoDienTu.vnに投入した総資金額は、はるかに短い期間にわたり当社のナンバーワン競争社であるLazada.vnが支出した投資額の50倍も少ないと見積もられている。このことはeコマースが人々の考えるほど大きな資金を必ずしも必要とせず、むしろ最も重要なことは真に深く国内事情を理解している人々で構成するチームであることを意味する」と付言した。

ChoDienTu.vn has shown that companies with unique strategies and in-depth local

understanding can still counter and challenge foreign e-Commerce giants even

with much smaller funding.

According to 2015 e-Commerce report announced recently by Vietnam e-Commerce

and Information Technology Agency(www.vecita.gov.vn), ChoDienTu.vn, Vietnam's

first e-marketplace, ranked second in sales revenue with total funding spent as

low as 50-times smaller than the first player, showing that local e-Commerce

companies with unique strategies, in-depth local understanding and smaller

funding can still counter deep-pocketed foreign giants.

Giving a speech to mark the achievement, Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh, chairman of

PeaceSoft-group, which owns ChoDienTu.vn, said, "In the face of e-Commerce

fever in the last few years, many deep pocketed players have been giving big

discounts and promotions to buy growth, but then shutting down after losing

millions of dollars because of an inefficient burn rate. ChoDienTu.vn has

chosen an in-depth strategy by silently investing into infrastructure services

to create long term values and improve service quality to buyers and sellers".

Over the past six years PeaceSoft-group has grown into a multi-services

ecosystem encompassing NganLuong.vn online-payment platform, eBay.vn cross

Speaking in response to an interview question about the potential threat posed

by Alibaba's recent acquisition of Rocket Internet backed online shopping giant

strategy, if Alibaba is the crocodile in the Yangtze River then we will be a

school of piranhas to fairly compete as they come to Vietnam".

ChoDienTu.vn is wholly owned by PeaceTech, a subsidiary of PeaceSoft-group,

itself a joint venture with eBay and majority controlled by Vietnamese veteran

technopreneurs. "Over the last 11 years, total funding into ChoDienTu.vn was

estimated as much as 50-times less than that spent by our number one competitor

Lazada.vn over a far shorter period. This means e-Commerce does not necessarily

require much money as people may though but the most critical thing is a team
