電子健康記録開発プロジェクトが臨床試験加速に役立つことを立証

【ジュネーブ2015年12月7日PR Newswire=共同通信JBN】「Contemporary Clinical Trials」誌に発表された費用対効果研究は、欧州の革新的医薬品イニシアチブ（IMI）の下で欧州委員会と欧州製薬団体連合会（EFPIA）から共同で資金供与された「Electronic Health Records for Clinical Research（EHR4CR、臨床研究向けの電子健康記録）」プロジェクトによって開発された革新的な技術プラットフォームは、臨床研究プロセスを強化、促進し、臨床試験に要する時間とコストを削減、臨床研究スポンサーに大きな付加価値を生み出すことを立証した。

ゲント大学のジョルズ・デ・ムーア医療情報科学・統計学部長は「EHR4CRは医療現場に画期的な欧州プラットフォームを開発し、多くの病院内の電子健康記録（EHR）システムと欧州全域の臨床データウエアハウス内で確実にデータを結びつけことで、臨床試験スポンサーは候補となる臨床試験プロトコルに対する多くの的確な患者を予測し、そのフィージビリティーを評価し、臨床試験センターとして選定する最もふさわしい病院を特定することができる」と説明した。

この研究を実施したスイスの研究機関であるData Mining Internationalのアリエル・ベレスニアク最高経営責任者（CEO）は「初めて最新の方法論を使って、この確かな費用対効果研究は、臨床研究のために病院にあるEHRデータを再利用することが医薬品の開発を速め、効率を増し、実質的な付加価値を生むことを確かめた」と語った。

EHR4CRプロジェクトのEFPIAコーディネーターでアストラゼネカ世界医薬品開発担当のプリンシパルサイエンティストあるマッツ・サンドグレン博士は「今回のプロジェクトで分かったことは、臨床研究にEHRデータを活用することは、世界の製薬業界に考え方を根本から変える機会と、既存のプロセスを強化し、臨床研究の遅れとコストを減らし、患者に革新的な医薬品をより速く届けるための新しい付加価値のあるソリューションを提供することである。早期採用プログラムが多くの欧州の主要製薬会社で計画されている」と語った。

EuroRec社長であるディパック・カルラ教授（博士）は「EHR4CRの結果を利用する運用ソリューションは現在欧州で拡大されており、2016年3月10にパリで開かれるEuropean Institute for Innovation through Health Data（I~HD、健康データを通じてイノベーションを求める欧州研究所）」の初会議で科学界に発表される」と述べた。

Published in "Contemporary Clinical Trials", a cost-benefit study establishes

that the revolutionary technological platform developed by the "Electronic

Health Records for Clinical Research" (EHR4CR) project, co-funded by the

European Commission and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries

and Associations (EFPIA), under the Innovative Medicines Initiative, would

enhance and speed up clinical research processes, reduce trials timelines and

costs, and generate significant added value for clinical trial sponsors.

Professor Dr Georges De Moor, Head, Medical Informatics and Statistics

Department, Ghent University, explained: "EHR4CR has developed a breakthrough

European platform, In Site, that connects securely to the data within multiple

hospital-based electronic health records (EHR) systems and clinical data

warehouses across Europe, to enable a trial sponsor to predict the number of

eligible patients for a candidate clinical trial protocol, assess its

feasibility, and locate the most relevant hospitals to recruit as trial

centres."

Dr Ariel Beresniak, CEO, Data Mining International, the Swiss research agency
