私たちの良き友人で同僚だったキャピタル・グループ・カンパニーズ（Capital Group Companies）のジム・ローゼンバーグ（Jim Rothenberg）会長が22日、心臓発作のために急死したことを、キャピタル・グループ・マネジメントコミティー（Capital Group Management Committee）としてここに深い悲しみとともにお知らせする。同氏は最近American Fundsを含めたキャピタル・グループでの勤続45年を祝ったばかりだった。

同氏はキャピタル・グループでのキャリアにおいて、さまざまなリーダーシップ・ポジションを務めてきた。8人で構成されるキャピタル・グループ・マネジメントコミティーの一員であり、役員会では副会長として、またGrowth Fund of Americaのポートフォリオマネジャーでもあった。キャリアを通じた活躍の舞台は職業だけでなく教育、市民活動、地域活動の幅広い分野に及んでおり、2004年から14年までハーバード大学の財務幹事を務めた。またカリフォルニア工科大学、ランド研究所、Huntington Memorial Hospitalのそれぞれ評議員会のメンバーであり、Investment Company Instituteのガバナーでもあった。

Statement From The Capital Group Management Committee Regarding The Passing of Jim Rothenberg

LOS ANGELES, July 22, 2015 /PRN=KYODO JBN/ --

We are deeply saddened to announce that our dear friend and colleague, Jim

Rothenberg, Chairman, Capital Group Companies, passed away today from a heart

attack. Jim recently celebrated 45 years with Capital Group, which includes the

American Funds.

Jim served in a variety of leadership positions at Capital Group during his

career. He was one of eight members of the Capital Group Management Committee,

and served as vice chairman of the board and a portfolio manager of Growth Fund

of America. Jim was also involved in a range of educational, civic and

community activities throughout his career, including treasurer of Harvard

University from 2004-14. He also served on the boards of the California

Institute of Technology, the RAND Corporation and Huntington Memorial Hospital,

and was a governor of the Investment Company Institute.

His intellect, passion and energy were a source of inspiration to all of us and

to our more than 7,600 associates worldwide.

Our hearts go out to his family and to all who were touched by his

extraordinary talents.
