第4回ユーラシア高等教育リーダーズフォーラム（EHELF）が6月10日～12日にわたってカザフスタン共和国アスタナのナザルバエフ大学で開催されました。毎年世界各地から300人以上の業界リーダーが出席し、EHELFでの討論やパネルセッションに参加しています。

今年のフォーラムのテーマは、「21世紀における卒業生の雇用適性：キー・コンピテンシーと現代の労働市場」でした。ナザルバエフ大学の勝茂雄学長は次のように述べています。「ナザルバエフ大学が率先して、カザフスタン共和国および世界中の高等教育における差し迫った課題を議論するプラットフォームとなるEHELFを立ち上げました。私達の運営委員会は、毎年フォーラムのために最適な話題を調査し選択しています。2015年度のEHELFでの話題である、卒業生のエンプロイヤビリティ、雇用および労働市場は私達に適したものです。」そして勝学長は次のように締めくくりました。「ナザルバエフ大学は、いくつかの世界一の大学と協力して設立されたユニークな大学です。そして、今年私達は、446名の大学生と大学院生を初めて卒業させます。生徒達の大半が就職活動を行う予定のため、生徒が産業界や企業の需要を満たしているかどうか、そしてこれらの需要を私達のプログラムにどのように反映すべきかを理解することが非常に重要です。」

パネルセッションの間、参加者は、エンプロイヤビリティ、世界的スキル、大学・雇用者・コミュニティ間の関係といった話題について議論しました。今年もまた、講演者には高等教育の専門家が名を連ねました。世界的な高等教育専門家でありエコノミストのジャミール・サルミ氏、中央アジア大学の実行委員会会長であるShamsh Kassim-Lakha氏、および12か国からの産業界および様々な大学の代表者が討論を進めました。サルミ氏は次のように述べています。「今回がEHELFへの2回目の参加です。今年のフォーラムで最も気に入ったことは、産業界からの参加者が非常に多く、高等教育システムと産業界がより近づいているということです。」ナザルバエフ大学の戦略的パートナーの一つ、ペンシルベニア大学のマシュー・ハートリー教授は次のように付け加えました。「私達が初めて関わってからこの最初の卒業に至る短い時間で、ナザルバエフ大学にどのくらい変化が起こったかを見ると非常に胸躍ります。」

    The IV Eurasian Higher Education Leaders Forum (EHELF) took place at

Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan, June 10-12. Each year, more than 300

attendees, industry leaders, from different parts of the world participate in

discussions and panel sessions at EHELF.

    The theme of this year's Forum was "Graduate Employability in the 21st

Century: key competencies and modern labor market". "Nazarbayev University took

the initiative and created EHELF, a platform for discussing pressing issues in

higher education in Kazakhstan as well as globally. Our Steering Committee

researches and chooses the most relevant topics for the Forum each year. The

topic of EHELF-2015, employability of graduates, employment and labor market,

is relevant for us," - says Shigeo Katsu, the President of Nazarbayev

University. "Nazarbayev University is a unique university established in

partnerships with some of the world's best universities. And this year, we are

graduating our first cohort of 446 undergraduate and graduate students. And, as

the majority of our students will hit the job market, it is very important for

us to understand whether our students meet the demands of industry and

business, and how we should reflect these demands in our programs," concluded

    During the panel sessions, participants discussed the topics of

employability, global skills, relationships between university, employer, and

community. Again, this year, the lineup of speakers included experts in higher

education. Jamil Salmi, a global tertiary education expert and economist,

Shamsh Kassim-Lakha, Executive Chairman of the Board Executive Committee of

University of Central Asia, and representatives of industries and various

universities from 12 countries led the discussions. "This is my second time to

attend EHELF," says Mr. Salmi, "and what I like the most about this year's

Forum is the fact that we have so many people from industry, we are bringing

closer the system of higher education and industry," said Salmi. "It has been

very exciting to see how much change was happening at Nazarbayev University in

so little time, from our first involvement to the first graduation," added

Matthew Hartley, Professor of University of Pennsylvania, one of the strategic

partners of Nazarbayev University.
