【マイアミ（米国）2015年6月11日PRN＝共同通信JBN】国際航空運送協会（International Air Transport Association、IATA）は11日、アエロメヒコ航空（Aeromexico）のアンドレス・コネサ（Andres Conesa）最高経営責任者（CEO）がIATA理事会の議長に就任したと発表した。任期は1年。コネサCEOはメキシコ人として初のIATA理事会議長である。

米フロリダ州マイアミで開かれた第71回IATA年次総会および世界民間航空サミットの閉幕に当たり、エア・カナダのカリン・ロビネスクCEOから、コネサ氏は議長を引き継いだ。ロビネスク氏は引き続き理事とChair Committee委員を務める。

コネサ氏は2005年から、メキシコ最大の航空会社アエロメキシコ航空を率いている。それ以前はメキシコの公的機関で財務関係の要職を歴任した。IATAでは2008年から理事を務めていた。

コネサ氏は「この価値ある機関IATAの70周年に当たり、理事会を率いる試練に前向きに取り組みたい。国際民間航空機関（ICAO)の2016年総会参加国が取り組む地球温暖化防止の重要な決定を控えて、議長は厳しい職務になる。航空業界でIATAは国際決済システムを管理し、世界的な権利保護活動や、航空にかかわる国際基準の改定に重要な役割を果たす。トニー・タイラー事務総長兼CEOやIATAチーム全体と密接に協力し、主要ステークホルダーの中で航空に対する理解を深め、今まで以上に安全で、効率よく、利益を維持するための重要施策の推進を助けていきたい」と語った。

IATAのトニー・タイラー事務総長兼CEOは「ロビネスク氏の力強い支援と指導力に心から感謝を申し述べたい。この1年は課題の多い年だった。航空便追跡、紛争地域の上空飛行、エボラ出血熱、ベネズエラ資金凍結などさまざまな難問で、特にロビネスク氏は賢明な指導力を発揮した。彼が担当した新販売制度（New Distribution Capability）は米運輸省から承認を得られ、航空旅行プロダクトの販売が大幅に刷新された」と話した。

タイラー事務総長はさらに「コネサ氏が理事会議長という需要な職務を引き継ぎ、IATAの伝統である強いリーダーシップを発揮し続けると確信する。これからは忙しい1年になる。NDCは試験段階から展開時期に移行し、紛争地域の情報共有でICAOと協力を続け、航空便追跡も実施に移る。コネサ氏の国際的な視野の広さは、航空業界が市場的視野に立って環境問題に取り組む詳細を決める上で鍵になる。さらにこれまでと同じように、想定外の事態もあるに違いない」と述べた。

IATAは同時に、理事のウィリー・ウォルシュ（Willie Walsh）氏が2015年6月から、コネサ氏の後任議長を務めると発表した。

年次総会は、2016年6月1日から3日までダブリンで第72回IATA年次総会・世界民間航空サミットをアイルランド航空（エアリンガス）の主催で開催する、と発表して幕を閉じた。

Andres Conesa, CEO of Aeromexico, new IATA Chairman

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that Andres

Conesa, CEO of Aeromexico, has assumed his duties as Chairman of the IATA Board

of Governors for a one-year term, effective immediately. Conesa is the first

Mexican to hold this position.

Conesa succeeds Calin Rovinescu, CEO of Air Canada, whose one-year term expired

at the conclusion of the Association's 71st Annual General Meeting (AGM) and

World Air Transport Summit in Miami, Florida. Rovinescu will continue to serve

on the Board of Governors and the Chair Committee.

Conesa has led Aeromexico, Mexico's largest airline, since 2005 after a career

spanning several key finance-related posts in the Mexican public

administration. Conesa has served as a member of the IATA Board of Governors

since 2008.

"I look forward to taking up the challenges of leading the IATA Board of

Governors in the 70th year of this invaluable association. It will be a

challenging task in the run-up to the important decisions on climate change

which will be taken by governments at the Assembly of the International Civil

Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2016. IATA plays a vital role in the aviation

industry managing global settlement systems, spearheading global advocacy

efforts and constantly evolving the global standards on which aviation relies.

will have a busy year ahead as NDC transitions from pilots to the deployment

perspective will be key as we put detail to the industry position on

IATA also announced that the Board of Governors Willie Walsh to serve as its

Chairman from June 2015 following Conesa's term.

The AGM concluded with an announcement that Aer Lingus will host the 72nd IATA

Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit in Dublin 1-3 June 2016.
