ドイツの映画会社コンスタンティン・フィルム（Constantin Film）と米ABCファミリー・ワールドワイド社が運営するテレビ局ABCファミリー（ABC Family）は「シャドウハンター」の「クラリー・フレイ」役にキャサリン・マクナマラの起用を決定した。マクナマラは最近では長編映画「ニューイヤーズ・イブ」で主演しており、長編映画「メイズ・ランナー」シリーズの「The Scorch Trials」やこの夏のABCファミリーの人気シリーズ「ザ・フォスターズ」にも登場する。

映画「シャドウハンター（SHADOWHUNTERS）」はカサンドラ・クレアのベストセラー・ヤングアダルトファンタジー小説「シャドウハンター（The Mortal Instruments）」シリーズを原作としており、主人公のクラリー・フレイは18歳の誕生日に自分は自分だと思い込んでいた人間ではなく、本当の自分は人間と天使の間にできた古い血統「シャドウハンター」の一人で、悪魔の狩人だと知る。

クラリー・フレイは美しく、想像力に富み、聡明（そうめい）で将来を嘱望された美大生だったが、母親が誘拐され、自分の人生はうそで固められていたと知った時、明るかったはずの未来が暗転する。クラリーは突然、ミステリアスなシャドウハンター、ジェイスや彼女の友だちサイモンが悪魔狩りをする世界に放り込まれた。クラリーは妖精や魔法使い、吸血鬼、そしておおかみ男たちが住む世界で自分探しの旅を始め、徐々に自分の過去や未来に何が起きるのかを学ぶ。想像を超える危険に満ちた闇の「シャドーワールド」だが、彼女は瞬く間に生き抜くすべを学んだ。クラリーは行動することを迫られるたび、今まで自分が知らなかったさまざまな力を持っていることを知り、この世界の主人公は自分だと自覚するようになる。

シャドウハンターのエグゼクティブ・プロデューサーはエド・デクター、マックG、コンスタンティン・フィルムのロバート・クルツァー、Unique Featuresのマイケル・リンとロバート・シェイ、マージョリー・ダヴィドとマイケル・ライスの各氏。プロデューサーはコンスタンティン・フィルムのドン・カーモディ、ダヴィド・コーミカンとマーチン・モスコビィチの各氏。監督はこのシリーズを始めて手がけるマックG（マックG）。既に、同ネットワークから「ジェイス」役にドミニク・シャーウッド（「バンパイア・アカデミー」）、「サイモン」役にアルベルト・ロゼンデ、「イザベル・ライトウッド」役にエメロード・トビア、「アレック・ライトウッド」役にマシュー・ダダリオ（「人生、サイコー!」）、「ルーク・ガロウェイ」役にアイザイア・ムスタファ（「モンスター上司」）各氏の配役が発表されている。

Katherine McNamara Plays Female Lead as 'Clary Fray' in SHADOWHUNTERS

    Constantin Film and ABC Family have found their 'Clary' in Katherine

McNamara. McNamara was recently seen starring in the feature film "New Year's

Eve" and will be seen next in the feature film "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials"

and this summer on ABC Family's hit series "The Fosters."

    Based on the bestselling young adult fantasy book series The Mortal

Instruments by Cassandra Clare, SHADOWHUNTERS follows 18-year-old Clary Fray,

who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather

comes from a long line of Shadowhunters - human-angel hybrids who hunt down

demons.

    Beautiful, creative, and intelligent, Clary Fray is a promising art student

whose bright future is derailed when her mother is kidnapped and she learns her

life has been a lie. Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with

mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend Simon. Now living among

faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of

self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.

She quickly learns to navigate in this hidden Shadow World full of unthinkable
