PR57791
SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 9, 2014 /PRN=KYODO JBN/ --
A delegation from South Texas will travel to Japan to share business expansion
and investment intelligence related to the abundant energy produced by the
Eagle Ford Shale - an oil and gas play in South Texas that is one of the most
productive in the world. This opportunity will be of particular interest to
manufacturing companies in Japan, especially those that are energy intensive.
Civic and business leaders from San Antonio, Texas will meet with corporate
executives in Tokyo on Wednesday, September 24 and Osaka on Friday, September
26.
There are currently more than 30 Japanese companies operating in San Antonio,
Texas including Toyota, Maruchan (Toyo Suisan), Toshiba and Lancer (Hoshizaki
Electric Co.), proving South Texas is an ideal location to expand, discover new
markets and diversify business. These companies have benefited from an
abundant, reliable and competitively priced source of energy; a plentiful,
cost-effective labor pool; and available land that offers convenient access to
the major transportation corridors.
The delegation includes an official government representative from San Antonio,
Texas - Councilman Ray Lopez. Other members of the delegation are experts on
Eagle Ford Shale opportunities, energy, locating and expanding in Texas, and
United States law regarding foreign investment. The goal of the delegation from
San Antonio, Texas is to establish long-term relationships with business
leaders in Japan to explore and identify mutually benefitting investment
opportunities.
"We are visiting Japan during a time of rapid growth in manufacturing and the
oil and gas industry in Texas and the Eagle Ford Shale region," said Councilman
Ray Lopez from San Antonio, Texas. "We are honored to have this opportunity to
meet with leaders of the business community in Japan to share insights and
intelligence on energy, Eagle Ford Shale opportunities, and how to expand into
Texas."
The delegation, assisted by the United States Commercial Services and the Japan
External Trade Office will conduct business intelligence seminars in Tokyo and
Osaka. The seminars are offered to business leaders who are interested in
learning about investments, business growth, and the strength of the
manufacturing and oil and gas industries in South Texas. Delegates will discuss
the regions' assets such as abundant, reliable and competitively priced energy,
a skilled workforce, available property and strategic transportation corridors,
all of which make the region attractive for investment.
"San Antonio, Texas offers great opportunity for expansion and investment" said
Scott Caudill, Senior Vice President, TK Holdings Inc. (U.S. subsidiary of
Takata Corporation Japan). "Our company has experienced exceptional growth in
San Antonio and has benefitted from the reliable, low-cost energy and excellent
workforce."
Seating is limited for the seminars and will be offered on a first-come,
first-serve basis. Interested business leaders are encouraged to contact Mr.
