Cambodian Star Nico Meets Japanese Press

- He Says Cambodian Youths' Interest in Fashion Is Exploding, Citing GATSBY's Popularity -

Cambodian national star Nico attended a news conference on July 30, 2014. The news conference was held at Mandom Nihonbashi Building in Tokyo by Mandom Corp. that manufactures and sells GATSBY brand men's cosmetics products.

1.  Outline of news conference

Mandom President Motonobu Nishimura explained his company's overseas business at the outset of the news conference. He said Mandom has been building up its overseas operations and enjoying a steady growth in overseas sales, adding that the company has focused on the Indochina region with special emphasis on Cambodia.

President Nishimura said Nico is Cambodia's national star and GATSBY brand ambassador.

2.  Nico's remarks

The Cambodian youths are steadily expressing strong interest in cosmetics and boosting demand for cosmetics products. Their fashion consciousness is reflected in rising popularity of products such as styling wax, water gloss and deodorant perfume spray. Up until four or five years ago, GATSBY was hardly known in Cambodia. But it is now a very popular brand.

I have been visiting GATSBY cosmetic stores for a couple of reasons. I go there to make an official visit as GATSBY brand ambassador and also to buy GATSBY products for myself. I was very impressed once when a 4-year-old or 5-year-old boy, standing in front of a GATSBY poster, begged his parents to buy him the products shown in the poster.

I myself have been a fan and user of GATSBY products. So when I was offered brand ambassadorship, I accepted it immediately. Demand for cosmetics among young people in Cambodia will further grow. I would like to continue to support GATSBY together with the Cambodian youths.

3.  Nico's profile

At age 23, Nico comes from a showbiz family, with all members -- grandparents, parents and brothers -- being artists. He first appeared in a movie at the age of 5. He currently performs primarily as a singer but is known as a multi-talented artist.

He signed the GATSBY brand ambassador contract in July 2013 and appears in GATSBY commercials.

4.  About GATSBY brand
