エネルギー管理、住宅用／産業用／消費者用アプリケーション向けの無線ソリューションを策定するグローバルなエコシステム団体であるZigBee（登録商標）アライアンスは本日、無線メッシュネットワーク規格であるZigBee IPの最新版となる「920IP」規格のテストと開発を完了したと発表した。920IPは、低消費電力かつ低コストのデバイスを制御するための、IPv6をベースとした完全な無線メッシュネットワーキング・ソリューションで、無線メッシュネットワーキング・ソリューションとしては、初めてのオープンかつグローバルな標準規格である。

ZigBeeアライアンスでは、HEMS（Home Energy Management System、住宅用エネルギー管理システム）で使用する920MHz帯に関する総務省指示と、スマートホーム規格であるECHONET Liteに関する経済産業省認定に対応する920IPを開発してきた。ZigBeeアライアンスは開発に向けた取り組みをサポートするために、一般社団法人情報通信技術委員会（TTC）ならびにエコーネットコンソーシアム（ECHONET Consortium）との提携契約を締結している。

情報通信技術委員会の代表理事専務理事である前田洋一氏は「ZigBeeアライアンスはM2M通信およびホームネットワークの世界標準規格策定をリードしてきた。2013年には、TTCはZigBeeアライアンスと覚書に調印し、TTC標準規格JJ-300.10とTTCテクニカルリポートTR-1043を制定しており、このたび、ZigBeeアライアンスが920IPの世界標準規格を完成したことを歓迎する。この新しいオプションを追加することで、エネルギー管理ソリューションが幅広く普及し、日本市場での利用拡大につながることを期待している」と述べている。

920IPは、ECHONET Liteと日本特有のHEMSに関する要件に対応する。920IPはネットワークおよびセキュリティーのレイヤーとアプリケーション・フレームワークを追加することで、IEEE 802.15.4規格をさらに拡充する。920IPにより、6LoWPAN、IPv6、RPL、UDPなどの標準的なインターネット・プロトコル（IP）に基づくコスト効率とエネルギー効率に優れた無線マルチホップ・メッシュネットワーキングの提供が可能になる。さらに920IPは、TLS-PSK,、EAP、PANAなどのセキュリティーおよび認証機能に加え、AES-128-CCMアルゴリズムに基づくリンクレイヤー・フレームセキュリティーにも対応している。

エコーネットコンソーシアムの代表理事である平原茂利夫氏は「ECHONET Liteは、日本でのHEMSに関するアプリケーション・インターフェースの標準規格として利用されている。ZigBeeアライアンスが策定した920IPオプションを備えたIPをECHONET Liteの推奨プロトコルの1つとして採用することにより、相互運用性が拡大し、幅広く利用されることを期待している」と述べている。

アップデートされたこの920IP標準規格では、OKI、NECエンジニアリング、アドソル日進、テキサス・インスツルメンツ、スカイリー・ネットワークスが開発をリードした。

ZigBeeアライアンスの社長兼最高経営責任者（CEO）であるトービン・リチャードソン氏は「ZigBeeアライアンスは、世界中の消費者および公共事業に幅広く使用される標準規格を策定する専門的知識を備えた組織として、日本の消費者にメリットをもたらす今回の取り組みを完了できることを大変嬉しく思っている。日本のZigBeeアライアンス・メンバーの数は世界で2番目に多く、この重要な取り組みをリードできる専門性の高いメンバーに恵まれたことは幸運なことである」と述べている。

ZigBeeアライアンスは近々、ZigBee認証プログラムの拡大を発表し、920IPを使用したECHONET Liteデバイスの最終製品の認定を開始する予定。このプログラムはエコーネットコンソーシアムと協力して開発を進めており、標準規格との整合性やさまざまなメーカーの製品間の相互運用性を保証するものである。ZigBee認証は成熟性テストと認定のプログラムで、これまでに世界中のメーカー900社以上の製品を認定してきた。

   The ZigBee Alliance, a global ecosystem of organizations creating wireless

solutions for use in energy management, commercial and consumer applications,

today announced it has completed testing and development of 920IP, an update to

ZigBee IP, the first open, global standard for an IPv6 based full wireless mesh

networking solution to control low power, low cost devices.

   Alliance members have been developing 920IP in response to Japan's Ministry

of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) designation of 920 MHz for use in

HEMS and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) endorsement of ECHONET

Lite as a smart home standard. The ZigBee Alliance has entered into agreements

with Telecommunications Technology Committee (TTC) and ECHONET Consortium to

support the development efforts.

   "ZigBee Alliance has been leading in the global standardization of M2M

communication and home networks," said Yoichi Maeda, CEO and SVP of TTC. "In

2013, TTC signed a MOU with ZigBee Alliance and enacted the TTC standard

JJ-300.10 and TTC technical report TR-1043. Now we welcome the completion of

global standardization of the 920IP by ZigBee Alliance. Adding this new option

may lead wider deployment of energy management solutions and expansion of the

market in Japan."

   920IP provides specific support for ECHONET Lite and the requirements of

Japanese Home Energy Management systems (HEMS). It enhances the IEEE 802.15.4

standard by adding network and security layers and an application framework. It

offers a cost-effective and energy-efficient wireless multi-hop mesh network

based on standard Internet protocols, such as 6LoWPAN, IPv6, RPL, and UDP. It

also supports security and authentication features such TLS-PSK, EAP and PANA

and link layer frame security based on the AES-128-CCM algorithm.

   "ECHONET Lite is used as a standard of application interface of HEMS in

Japan," said Morio Hirahara, representative Director of ECHONET Consortium.

"Having IP with 920MHz option by the ZigBee Alliance as one of the recommended

protocols for ECHONET Lite, higher interoperability and more wide deployment

will be expected."

   Development efforts of the updated standard were led by OKI, NEC

Engineering, Ad-Sol Nissin, Texas Instruments and Skyley Networks.

   The Alliance will soon announce an extension of the ZigBee Certified program

to certify end products for ECHONET Lite devices using 920IP. The program is

being developed in cooperation with the ECHONET Consortium and will insure both

conformance to the standards and interoperability between products from

different manufacturers. ZigBee Certified is a mature testing and certification

program that has certified over 900 products from manufacturers around the

world.
