Stretta Therapy for GERD Featured on The Doctors TV program

The Emmy Award-winning TV program The Doctors recently featured the case of
"Jenny," a 29-year-old with severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Jenny suffered for three years before she turned to University of California
Irvine's Dr. Kenneth Chang for a solution in the form of Stretta(R)

Jenny had chronic GERD that was uncontrolled with medications and suffered
from constant discomfort and pain. In The Doctors episode, Dr. Chang provides
an overview of Stretta and explains that it works by treating the sphincter
muscle at the top of the stomach with radiofrequency (RF) energy, to create a
stronger, thicker muscle. The improvement in muscle function restores the
natural barrier to reflux and prevents stomach contents from refluxing up into
the esophagus, which was the cause of Jenny's painful symptoms.
