【東京2013年2月14日AAPメディアネット・インターナショナル=共同JBN】オーストラリアの主要州であるニューサウスウェールズ(NSW)州のバリー・オファレル首相は、2月16日初めて日本を公式訪問する。

オファレル首相は東京を訪れ、日本政府関係者、企業首脳、産業界や投資家グループと会談する予定。

オファレル首相は初の公式訪問について「日本はアジアにおける大切なパートナーであり、NSWとして貿易、投資リンクを拡大したいという明確なメッセージを伝えるつもりである」と語りさらに次のように述べた。

「私としては、麻生太郎副首相を含む企業、政府首脳と会えるのを楽しみにしている」

「ことしは東京と姉妹都市関係を結んで30周年であり、今月新都知事選ばれた舛添要一氏と会う予定である」

「日本はNSWのリソース、農産物製品の主要市場であり、昨年度の両国間の商品貿易額は160億ドルに達している」

「日本はNSW石炭の世界最大の市場で、2011-12年は全石炭輸出の47%を占めた」

「日本はまたオーストラリアにおける主要な投資国であり、われわれはNSWへの外国投資を歓迎している」

「わたし日本とNSWがさらに強力な貿易関係を築けると考えており、そのために昨年東京に駐日貿易投資事務所を設けた」

「現在2020年の東京オリンピック・パラリンピック開催への計画が進んでいることを承知している。東京滞在中、このグローバルなイベントの計画、ホスティングについてNSWの企業が持っている専門知識や経験を紹介するつもりである」

オファレル首相は、金融サービス、インフラストラクチャー、観光セクターにおける機会を探求するため、東京のハイレベルな産業、投資家グループに働きかける予定。

    The Premier of Australia’s leading State - New South Wales (NSW) - Mr Barry

O’Farrell will arrive in Japan on February 16 for his first official visit to

the country.

    Mr O’Farrell will visit Tokyo where he will meet with government

representatives, business leaders, and industry and investor groups.

    “Japan is an important partner in Asia and I will take a clear message that

NSW is keen to expand our trade and investment links,” Mr O’Farrell said.

    “I look forward to meeting business and government leaders including Deputy

Prime Minister, Taro Aso.

    “This year marks the 30th anniversary of the sister state relationship with

Tokyo and I will also be meeting the new Governor of Tokyo, Mr Yoichi Masuzoe

who was elected earlier this month.

    “Japan is a major market for NSW resources and agricultural products and

the bilateral merchandise trade between us stood at $16 billion last financial

year.

    “Japan is the largest overall market for NSW coal, receiving about 47 per

cent of coal exports in 2011-12.

    “Japan is also a major investor in Australia and we welcome foreign

investment in NSW.

    “I believe opportunities exist to build an even stronger trade relationship

between Japan and NSW and that’s why we opened a Trade & Investment Office in

Tokyo last year.

    “I am aware planning is underway ahead of the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic

Games in Tokyo. While I am here I intend to promote the expertise and

experience NSW companies have in planning and hosting major global events.”

    Mr O’Farrell will address several high-level industry and investor groups

in Tokyo to explore opportunities in the financial services, infrastructure and

tourism sectors.
