＊タイガー・ウッズとロリ・マクロリーがミッションヒルズでの対決のために海南島に到着

ゴルフ界最大の有名人の2人が28日夕、今年のアジアで最も期待が高く、広く注目されている18ホールのゴルフ試合に出場するため熱帯の島、海南島に到着した。

世界ランキング1位のタイガー・ウッズは米国からプライベートジェットに乗って海口国際空港に到着した。今回の試合は、メジャー大会で14回の勝利を収めているウッズが今年アジア太平洋地域で行う初の試合となる。

29日の試合でウッズに対するのは、北アイルランド出身で元世界ランキング第１位、メジャー大会で2度の勝利を収め中国にもファンが多いロリ・マクロリーで、ウッズと同じく28日夕に到着した。リラックスした雰囲気のマクロリーは、明らかにウッズとの対決を楽しみにしているようだった。

ミッションヒルズへの到着に際してマクロリーは「私はワールド・カップが開催された時にここでGマックとともにプレーしたことがある。良い経験だった。すぐれたコースで、レイアウトも良い。数年前の試合で勝利のチャンスは大きかった。今回ここに戻ってきたのはすばらしいことで、訪問するたびに非常によく面倒をみてくれる」と語った。

ミッションヒルズ・グループの会長兼最高経営責任者（CEO）であるケン・チュー博士は「タイガー・ウッズとロリ・マクロリーをミッションヒルズ海口に迎えるのを非常に喜ばしく思う。ミッションヒルズでの試合は、中国や世界の新世代のゴルファーや観衆にゴルフの何たるかをみせる当グループの最近の活動の１つであり、このスペクタクルなイベントは同時に、ミッションヒルズ・グループの20周年祝典の最後を飾る大きな出来事になるだろう」と述べた。

The two biggest names in golf have landed on the tropical Hainan Island this

evening for what is set to be the most highly anticipated and widely viewed 18

holes of golf match in Asia this year.

World No.1 Tiger Woods touched down at the Haikou International Airport in a

private jet from the US, and this will likely be the 14-time major winner's

only competitive match in the Asia Pacific region this year.

His opponent in tomorrow's The Match at Mission Hills will be the former World

No.1 and two-time major winner Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irishman, who enjoys

a huge following in China, has also landed this evening. He was in a relaxed

mood and clearly looking forward to the showdown with his great adversary.

Speaking on his arrival at Mission Hills, the double major winner Rory McIlroy

said, "I played here with G-Mac [in the World Cup] and it was good. It's a good

golf course, a good layout and obviously we had a great chance to win here a

couple of years ago. It's nice to be back and obviously every time we come we

get looked after really well."
