コーズ・チェンバーズ・ウェストガース法律事務所(以下「コーズ」)は、元オーストラリア貿易促進庁(オーストレード)CEO であり、元駐日オーストラリア大使のピーター・グレー氏をコーズの日本ビジネスグループの共同代表に任命、国際的連携・展開能力を大幅に強化しました。
グレー氏は、日本とのビジネス或いは日本市場での事業展開を展開するコーズの顧客に、戦略的アドバイスを提供する上での中核的役割を担うことになります。

著名な国際的エキスパートであるグレー氏は、オーストラリア貿易促進庁(オーストレード)の CEO として2010 年 3 月から2012 年12 月に定年退職する間、アジアにおける通商貿易分野での顕著な実績と幅広い経験を積んでいます。またその以前には、オーストラリア外務通商省(DFAT) において数々の上級管理職を経験しており、1994 年には副事務次官に任命され、通商貿易政策および交渉、更にはアジア、欧州、米州との二国間政治経済関係を主たる任務とする広範囲の責任を担っていました。
グレー氏は駐日オーストラリア大使の他、初代オーストラリアAPEC大使、ブリュッセルでは EU 大使、ジュネーブでは WTO 大使を勤め、また、キャリア初期において、東京およびワシントン DC のオーストラリア大使館に勤務し通商貿易問題を担当していました。
グレー氏は、世界およびアジア全域における広範な戦略的、経済的、通商的展開を分析する上で、豊富な実績を有すると同時に、アジアおよび新興市場における事業成功のための要件も熟知している特別な人物であります。

Global Business Expert Boosts Corrs’ International Capability

Corrs Chambers Westgarth has significantly strengthened its international
ties and capabilities with the appointment of past Austrade CEO and former
Australian Ambassador to Japan, Peter Grey, as Co-Chair of the Corrs Japan
Business Group.
Mr Grey will be central to providing strategic advice to Corrs' clients
doing business with or in Japan.

A high-profile international expert, Mr Grey has had a distinguished and
extensive career in trade and commercial issues in the Asian region, most
recently as Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Trade Commission
(Austrade) from March 2010 until retirement from government in December 2012.
Prior to Austrade, Mr Grey held a number of senior positions with the
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) where he was appointed Deputy
Secretary in 1994. As Deputy Secretary, he had responsibility for a wide range
of functions with a particular focus on trade and commercial policy and
negotiations, and bilateral political and economic relations with Asia, Europe
and the Americas.
In addition to being Ambassador to Japan, Mr Grey was Australia's first
Ambassador for APEC and also Ambassador to the European Union in Brussels, and
to the WTO in Geneva. Earlier in his career he had worked at the Australian
Embassies in Tokyo and Washington on trade and commercial policy issues.
Mr Grey is in the unique position of having strong experience in analysing
broad strategic, economic and commercial developments globally and across Asia,
while also understanding what is necessary for business to achieve commercial
success in Asia and other emerging markets.
Dr Geoff Raby, Co-Chair of the Corrs China Group said: "Peter Grey's depth

Mr Grey is on the Board of the Asia Society (Australia), the Board of the

Japan Business Co-operation Committee. He is also a member of the Centre for
Strategy and Governance. He has a Bachelors of Economics (Honours) from the
University of Sydney and a Masters of Business Administration from Stanford’s
Graduate School of Business. He is a Member of the Australian Institute of
Company Directors (MAICD).
