【清州（韓国）2013年8月22日PRN＝共同JBN】2013年清州国際工芸ビエンナーレ（2013 Cheongju International Craft Biennale）組織委員会は22日、8回目となる国際的な工芸品展示会が9月に韓国の清州で開催され、国内外からさまざまなコンテンポラリー作品を展示すると発表した。

同組織によると、2013年清州国際工芸ビエンナーレは9月11日から10月20日までの40日間、ソウルから137キロ離れた清州で開催される。

「Something Old, Something New（馴染みそして新しさ）」をテーマに世界60カ国から3000人以上のアーティストによる総計6000点の工芸品が、かつては同市の産業ランドマークだった旧清州タバコ製造工場跡に展示される。

組織委が発表したプレスリリースは「最もなじみのある芸術作品だけでなく人間にとって生活の手段となる幅広い工芸品を対象とする世界規模の工芸品ビエンナーレになることを望んでいる」と指摘した。

展示会は、1999年から開催されている同工芸ビエンナーレ史上初めて、韓国の女性アーティスト、パク・ナムヒ氏と日本の陶芸家、金子賢治氏の2人が共同監督し、斬新な視点を提供するとともにイベント全体の質を高めることを狙っている。

パク氏は、人類学的な価値に焦点を合わせた「Mother & Child: Care, Survive, Sublime（マザー＆チャイルド：世話、生存、気品）」と名付けた展示を行う。金子氏は実用と個性に基づく伝統工芸を展示する。

招待国家館では、ドイツのアーティスト146人が「機能的耐久性」を踏まえて作成したジュエリー、ファッションデザイン、ホームウエアなど、535の現代美術と工芸が展示さる。

組織委によると、有名な韓国人歌手、男優、女優20人がデザインした約100の作品が「Star Craft」と呼ばれる別の展示会に出展され、販売される。

入場料は大人が1万ウォン（8.95米ドル）、19歳以下が4000ウォン。

    An international craft fest is set to open in a South Korean province early

next month, in its eighth biennial exhibition presenting various contemporary

pieces from here and abroad, the organizing committee said Wednesday.

    The 2013 Cheongju International Craft Biennale will kick off in Cheongju,

137 kilometers south of Seoul, on Sept. 11 and run until Oct. 20 for a 40-day

event, according to the organizing committee.

    A total of 6,000 craftworks by more than 3,000 artists from 60 different

countries will be exhibited under this year's theme of "Something Old,

Something New" at an old tobacco factory that used to be an industrial landmark

of the city.

    "We hope to display a global-scale craft biennale that covers a range of

craftworks which is the most familiar form of art as well as a means of life to

human," the committee said in a press release.

    The exhibition was co-directed by a Korean female artist and a Japanese

pottery expert -- Park Nam-hee and Kenji Kaneko -- for the first time since its

debut in 1999, seeking to offer a fresh angle and improve the overall quality

of the event, the committee said.

    Park will showcase the first exhibition named "Mother & Child: Care,

Survive, Sublime" that focuses on anthropological values. Kaneko will present

traditional crafts based on practicality and individuality.

    In the guest pavilion, it will show 535 contemporary arts and crafts

including jewellery, fashion design and homewares by 146 German artists in the

light of "functional durability."

    Some 100 pieces designed by 20 famous South Korean singers, actors and

actresses will also be exhibited and available for sale in a separate showcase

named "Star Craft," the committee added.

    An entry fee costs 10,000 won (US$8.95) for an adult and 4,000 won for

those aged 19 and younger.
