国際連合「文明の同盟」と イー・エフ・エデュケーション・ファーストが共同でニューヨークにてサマースクールを開講

【2013年5月30日　ニューヨーク、アメリカ合衆国】国際連合「文明の同盟」（以下、UNAOC）とイー・エフ・エデュケーション・ファースト（以下、EF）が提携し実現する、革新的なサマースクールが2013年8月24日から31日まで、アメリカのニューヨーク州タリータウンにある、EF所有のニューヨークキャンパスにて開講される。このサマースクールは、世界中から集まる100人の参加者に、共通の課題をもとに国境を越えた連携をはかり、必要な知識やスキルを身につけてもらうというのがねらいだ。

UNAOCのディレクター、マシュー・ホーズ氏いわく「今の若い世代が、これからの社会をより良いものに変えていく原動力であるという信念に基づき開講」されるというUNAOCとEFによるサマースクール。「１週間という期間の中、世界中のさまざまな国から100人もの若者が集まり、それぞれの文化や宗教の違いを尊重しながら世界情勢が抱える問題について話し合います。」とサマースクールの概要についても語った。

「UNAOCとEFは、共に異文化交流や理解に注力している団体です。今回のサマースクール開講は両者間の有意義な提携により実現しました。」と、イー・エフ・ランゲージ・センター最高責任者のエバ・コッカム氏。同氏はさらにこう語る。「グローバル化が進み、異文化間で互いに助け合っていかなければならないのが現代社会です。そこに必要とされるスキルを、活発な意見交換を通して、参加者に体得してほしいと願っています。」

サマースクール参加希望者（対象年齢：18歳以上35歳以下）は公式サイト（www.UNAOCEFSummerSchool.org）から登録することができる。

登録締め切り日は6月15日（土）。

UNAOCについて

UNAOCは、元国連事務総長のコフィー・アナン氏によって2005年に設立された機関であり、国、人種、コミュニティの枠を超えた異文化理解および協力の促進を目指しています。

EFについて

United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and EF Education First to Host Summer School in New York

     The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and EF Education

First (EF) announced their collaboration for a unique Summer School, which will

be hosted at EF's New York campus in Tarrytown, NY, USA from 24 to 31 of August

2013. During the Summer School, 100 youth from all over the globe will gain the

skills and knowledge needed to strengthen their ability to collaborate across

borders and to search for joint solutions.

    "The conviction that youth are a driving force for positive social change

is the basis for the UNAOC-EF Summer School and we are very pleased to work

alongside EF in this effort," said Matthew Hodes, Director of the UNAOC. "This

week-long summer school brings together 100 youth from all corners of the world

to address pressing global challenges within the context of cultural and

religious diversity."

    "This Summer School is a meaningful collaboration between two organizations

dedicated to exchange and understanding," said Eva Kockum, President of EF

International Language Centers. "Through the encouragement of dialogue, the

participants can gain the skills needed in today's interdependent and

    Youth (between 18 and 35) who are interested in attending this year's
