【新竹（台湾）2013年5月29日PRN＝共同JBN】無線通信とデジタル・マルチメディア・ソリューションの大手ファブレス半導体企業であるメディアテック（MediaTek Inc.、http://www.mediatek.com/）は29日、急成長しているタブレット市場向けに新設計されたクアッドコア・アプリケーション・プロセッサーMT8125を発表した。新タブレット・プラットフォームは、大成功しているメディアテックのクアッドコア・ポートフォリオの延長線上にある。このプロセッサーは、電力効率がよいクアッドコアCortex（商標）－ A7 CPUサブシステムに、優れたマルチメディア機能および高度なユーザー体験を提供する最高速度1.5GHzのPowerVR（商標）シリーズ5XTグラフィックスを統合している。MT8125は製品設計を簡素化し市場出荷までの時間を短縮するため、3G HSPA+、2G EDGE、各種Wi-Fiをサポートしている。これらすべてはピン互換性を持ち、デバイスメーカーは追加の再加工なしで、既存の設計や計画中の設計を活用してタブレットすべてに関する自社のポートフォリオ拡大が容易になる。

MT8125は、メディアテックの画期的なクアッドコアSoC（システムオンチップ）プラットフォームとハイエンド・マルチメディア性能を継承しており、フルHD 1080pまでのビデオ再生／録画が可能なISP実装のフルHD（1920 x 1200）ディスプレー付き13MPカメラをサポートするなど、優れたマルチメディア機能が組み込まれている。さらに、この新たなタブレット用SoCは、デジタルテレビ市場におけるメディアテックの幅広い体験から生まれた先進的画像品質技術MiraVision（商標）を採用した画期的ビジュアル品質も提供する。

MT8125は、Wi-Fi、Bluetooth 4.0、GPS、FMの4つをひとつしたメディアテックの先進的4-in-1接続を実装しており、高性能マルチメディア・タブレット用として高度に統合されたクラス最高の無線技術と拡大機能を提供する。MT8125はまた、マルチメディア・デバイス間のコンテンツ共有を容易にするWi-Fi Alliance認証のMiracast（商標）もサポートしている。

調査会社ガートナーのディレクターであるロジャー・シェン氏は「タブレットに使用されるアプリケーション・プロセッサーは過去2年間で1GHzのシングルコアからクアッドコアに急速に進化し、クロックも1.5GHzを超えた。チップセット・ベンダーは競争上、統合レベルを上げることでシステムコストを引き下げながら、より一層先進的な機能を搭載することでペースを維持する必要に迫られている」と指摘している。（注）

designed for the fast growing global tablet markets. The new tablet platform is
