【メンロパーク（米カリフォルニア州）2013年4月17日PRN＝共同JBN】世界的に主要なベンチャーキャピタルの一つであるNew Enterprise Associates, Inc.（NEA） （http://www.nea.com/ ）は、インドを除くアジア地域担当のパートナー兼マネジング・ディレクターにカルメン・チャン（Carmen Chang）氏を選任した。同氏の担当職務は新設のポストで、アジアに積極的に投資を行うとともに、アジア域内の重要な市場で営業、ビジネスを展開している米国内での投資先企業をサポートする統一的世界的機構を構築する－というNEAが焦点をあてている戦略を反映したものである。

チャン氏は昨年、スペシャル・シニアアドバイザーとしてNEAに入社した。今後もメンロパークのオフィスを本拠とするが、1年の約4分の1は中国その他アジアの新興市場国で過ごすことになる見込み。当面は中国その他アジア市場における継続中のNEAのディールやブランドを管轄する。チャン氏はまたNew Enterprise Associates（北京）のマネジング・ディレクターであるシャオドン・ジャン氏と密接に連絡を取り、中国におけるNEAのプレゼンスを拡大することになっている。

NEAが中国に最初に投資したのは2003年で、2005年には中国におけるプレゼンスを確立した。現在では北京と上海に事務所がある。各業種、さまざまなステージにある30社を対象にNEAの投資額は4億ドルを上回っており、投資先企業としてはSMIC、Spreadtrum、CITIC Pharmaceuticals （Shanghai Pharmaが買収）、LianLian Pay、Uni-Power Groupなどがある。

昨年NEAに入社する以前のチャン氏は、Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati （WSGR）でパートナーを務め、WSGRの中国業務を率いていた。チャン氏は中国で多くの将来性のある技術関連取引、企業に関わり、China Netcomでは初の外国人投資家となったほか、レノボ、Foxconn、Google、テンセント、Netease、CEC、China Mobile（中国移動通信） その他の企業に投資を行った。またSMICやSpreadtrumその他の新規株式公開を行ったほか、多くの買収、合併案件も手がけた。

NEAでの職務に加えチャン氏は、スタンフォード大学国際安全保障・協力センターのメンバーで、スタンフォード大学法科大学院とスタンフォード大学ビジネス・スクールが共同で進めているRock Center for Corporate Governanceのフェローでもある。このほかチャン氏は、微小部品の製造企業としては世界で最も垂直統合が進んでいる企業の一つのAAC Technologies Holdings, Inc.の取締役会にも名を連ねている。

global venture capital firm, today announced that Carmen Chang has been named

Partner and Managing Director, Asia (Ex-India). This newly created role

reflects NEA's strategic focus on building a unified global organization that

actively invests in Asia and supports its U.S.-based portfolio companies

operating or conducting business in these important emerging markets.

    Ms. Chang, who joined NEA as a Special Senior Advisor last year, will

continue to be based in the firm's Menlo Park office but will spend about

one-quarter of her time in China and other emerging markets in Asia. Her

initial focus will be on enhancing the firm's deal flow and brand in China and

other Asian markets. Ms. Chang will be working closely with Xiaodong Jiang,

Managing Director of New Enterprise Associates (Beijing), Ltd., to further

deepen NEA's China presence.

companies such as Lenovo, Foxconn, Google, Tencent, Netease, CEC, China Mobile

and mergers.

    In addition to her role with NEA, Ms. Chang is an affiliate of the Center

for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford University and a fellow

for the Rock Center for Corporate Governance, a joint initiative of Stanford

Law School and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She also serves on the

board of directors of AAC Technologies Holdings, Inc., one of the world's
