【マイアミ2013年1月8日PRN＝共同JBN】ジム・ロジャーズ（Jim Rogers）氏とビーランド・インタレスツ（Beeland Interests, Inc.）は8日、ロジャーズ国際商品指数（Rogers International Commodity Index(R), RICI(R)）を次のように変更すると発表した。

インターコンチネンタル取引所（ICE）上場の砂糖の指数構成比率を2.0%から1.0%に引き下げ、ニューヨーク証券取引所（NYSE Liffe）上場の砂糖を1.0%組み入れる。ICE上場のキャノーラ（指数構成比率0.75%）を除外し、NYSE Liffe上場の菜種の指数構成比率を0.25%から1.00%へ引き上げる。

2012年11月、ビーランド・インタレスツはICE上場のコーヒー（指数構成比率2.0%）をNYSE Liffe 上場のコーヒー（指数構成比率2.0%）に、ICE上場のココア（指数構成比率1.0%）をNYSE Liffe上場のココア（指数構成比率1.0%）に、それぞれ入れ替えている。

今回の変更は、2013年1月末の限月乗換え時に50%を変更し、2013年2月末の限月乗換え時に残りの50%を変更するというかたちで、二段階に分けて実施される。

この変更によって、（NYSE Liffe上場のココアが加わることで）英ポンドが加わり、（ICE上場のキャノーラが除外されることによって）カナダドルが除外されることになる。

RICIは、農産物、エネルギー、金属、鉱物などの、世界中の経済活動に広く利用されている国際取引商品群（バスケット）の値動きを表す指数である（37種類の商品先物）。RICIおよびそのサブインデックスは、世界各地で多くの投資銀行や投資家に利用されている。RICIは公表来、269%以上の上昇を記録している（2012年12月末時点）。

コモディティ投資の提唱者である投資家ジム・ロジャーズ氏は、1997年から1998年にかけてRICIを発案し、現在はこの指数の所有企業であるビーランド・インタレスツの最高経営責任者（CEO）を務めている。ロジャーズが現在議長を務めているRICI委員会が、指数の構成品目と構成比率を決定する。ロジャーズ氏はこのほか、『冒険投資家ジム・ロジャーズ世界バイク紀行』（Investment Biker）、『冒険投資家ジム・ロジャーズ世界大発見』（Adventure Capitalist）、『大投資家ジム・ロジャーズが語る商品の時代』（Hot Commodities）、『ジム・ロジャーズ中国の時代』（A Bull In China）、『人生と投資で成功するために娘に贈る12の言葉』（A Gift to My Children）、『Street Smarts -Adventures on the Road and in the Markets』などの著書がある。

Rogers International Commodity Index (RICI(R)) Committee Adjusts Index Components

    Jim Rogers and Beeland Interests, Inc. announced today the following

adjustments to the Rogers International Commodity Index(R) (RICI(R)).

    ICE Sugar will be reduced from 2.0% Index Weight to 1.0% Index Weight, and

NYSE Liffe Sugar will be added at 1.0% Index Weight.  ICE Canola (0.75% Index

Weight) will be omitted and NYSE Liffe Rapeseed will be increased from 0.25%

Index Weight to 1.00% Index Weight.  

    In November 2012, Beeland Interests announced that ICE Coffee (2.0% Index

Weight) will be replaced by NYSE Liffe Coffee (2% Index Weight) and that ICE

Cocoa (1.0% Index Weight) will be replaced by NYSE Liffe Cocoa (1% Index

Weight).

    Each of these changes will be implemented in two phases:  50% during the

January 2013 roll period, occurring at the end of January 2013, and the

remaining 50% during the February 2013 roll period, occurring at the end of

February 2013.

    The changes will result in the addition of the pound sterling (with the

addition of NYSE Liffe Cocoa) and the omission of the Canadian dollar (with the

omission of ICE Canola).

    The RICI represents the value of a compendium (or "basket") of globally

traded commodities (37 commodity futures contracts upon completion of the

changes described above) employed in the global economy, ranging from

agricultural and energy products to metals and minerals.  The RICI and its

various sub-indexes are used by many investment banks and investors throughout

the world.  As of the end of December 2012, the RICI had increased by over 269%

since inception.
