【新竹（台湾）2012年12月11日PRN＝共同JBN】無線通信とデジタル・マルチメディア・ソリューションの大手ファブレス半導体企業であるメディアテック社（MediaTek Inc.）は11日、世界で初めて商用化されたクアッドコア・システム・オン・チップ（SoC）であるMT6589の発売を発表した。同製品は世界の中位から高位のAndroidスマートフォンおよびタブレット向けに発売される。新しいクアッドコアSoCは、メディアテックの先端的マルチモードのUMTS Rel、8/HSPA+/TD-SCDMAモデム、ARM製の高能率クアッドコアCortex（商標）-A7 CPUサブシステム、Imagination Technologies提供のPowerVR（商標）Series5XT GPUを統合して、28nmプロセステクノロジーによって提供される。Dual-SIMテクノロジーのリーダーとしてMT6589はまた、世界のマルチSIM需要の高まりに応えるDual-Active機能であるDual-SIMをサポートする世界初のHSPA+スマートフォン・プラットフォームである。これら強力な機能の統合によってMT6589は汎用（はんよう）プラットフォームとなって、素晴らしいユーザー体験のために極めて低い電力消費による最高のマルチメディア能力を提供する。同製品はまたハンドセット・メーカーが世界のどこの市場向けにも市場化時間を短縮し、製品開発を単純化し、より費用対効果のあるやり方で製品を差別化することを可能にする。

MT6589 is also the world's first HSPA+ smartphone platform supporting Dual-SIM,

    The MediaTek MT6589 quad-core solution supports 1080p 30fps/30fps low-power

(1920x1080) LCD displays, and enhanced picture processing for DTV-grade image

quality.  In addition, the MT6589 also supports MediaTek's "Cool 3D" suite,

which includes support for stereo 3D cameras and displays, real-time 2D-to-3D

conversion and an optimal 3D user interface. Leveraging MediaTek's established

3D technologies from the DTV and Digital Home markets, this suite helps create

an optimal stereo 3D display with a custom-tailored 3D interface, providing an
